At JOT, we believe your spiritual journey and personal reflections are private. JOT is designed to be a local-first scripture and note-taking tool where your data stays exactly where it belongs: with you.

1. Our Privacy Philosophy

We prioritize your privacy by not collecting what we don’t need. JOT is built on a "local-first" architecture, meaning all data processing and storage happens directly on your device.

2. Information We Collect (and What We Don't)

JOT is designed for minimal data footprint.

  • User-Generated Content: You remain the sole owner of the data you input, including:

    • Scripture references and personal notes.

    • Journal entries, prayer lists, and reflections.

    • Images or documents attached to your entries (stored locally in the app's directory).

  • No Personally Identifiable Information (PII): JOT does not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or location.

  • No Tracking or Analytics: We do not use third-party tracking (like Google Analytics) or crash reporting tools that transmit your data to us or anyone else.

  • No Third-Party Integration: JOT does not connect to external servers for data processing.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used strictly to provide the app’s core features:

  • Organizing and displaying your notes and scripture logs.

  • Allowing you to edit, search, and manage your spiritual reflections.

  • Ensuring your data persists on your device between sessions.

4. Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: All your data is stored within the app’s sandboxed environment (e.g., UserDefaults and the Documents directory) on your device.

  • Zero Cloud Footprint: We do not host your data on our servers.

  • Device Encryption: Because your data stays on your device, it is protected by your hardware’s encryption (such as iOS Data Protection) as long as your device is passcode or biometric protected.

5. Disclosure of Information

Since JOT never transmits your data to us, we have no data to share, sell, or rent. Your reflections are never disclosed to third parties.

6. Data Retention and Control

  • Full Control: You have the absolute right to modify or delete your entries at any time within the app.

  • App Deletion: If you delete JOT from your device, all associated data is permanently removed by the operating system. We cannot recover deleted data for you because we never had access to it.

7. Children’s Privacy

JOT is not intended for children under the age of 5. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover any information has been inadvertently collected, it will be deleted immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect new features or security standards. Any updates will be posted within the app. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
